Eckhart Tolle writes about the ego in his book A New Earth.

Eckhart Tolle says, "The extent of the ego's inability to recognize itself and see what it is doing is staggering and unbelievable. [...] To become free of the ego is not really a big job but a very small one. All you need to do is be aware of your thoughts and emotions – as they happen. This is not really a 'doing' but an alert 'seeing'. In that sense, it is true that there is nothing you can do to become free of the ego. When that shift happens, which is the shift from thinking to awareness, an intelligence far greater than the ego's cleverness begins to operate in your life. Emotions and even thoughts become depersonalized through awareness. Their impersonal nature is recognized. There is no longer a self in them. They are just human emotions, human thoughts. Your entire personal history, which is ultimately no more than a story, a bundle of thoughts and emotions, becomes of secondary importance and no longer occupies the forefront of your consciousness. It no longer forms the basis for your sense of identity. You are the light of Presence, the awareness that is prior to and deeper than any thoughts and emotions."

Tolle, A New Earth, pp.117–118.

African Proverb about finding peace within yourself

"When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you."
~African Proverb

As I find the inner peace and my center this saying is all to true. I find greater strength then I have ever had. No one can tare me down if I don't let them. As you grow in this peaceful place the others will find your peacefulness hard to take. This is when even further challenges await you.

Quote - Life choices when in the NOW

‎"Right now your life is being formed by the choices you make, the people you talk to, the beliefs you have, the things you do, and how much you care. Do good and follow your heart. If you make a mistake it won't make you or break you. It's what you learn from the mistakes that matter."

-Anonymous

The real difference from people that are successful and people that are not is how they react and make changes to there lives when things don't work out as they want them to.

Dalai Lama quote

"Giving up attachment to the world does not mean that you set yourself apart from it. Generating a desire for others to be happy increases your humanity. As you become less attached to the world, you become more humane. As the very purpose of spiritual practice is to help others, you must remain in society."
--Dalai Lama

I think this says a lot. we need to make sure that we become more humane in how we treat others. If we all really work at this and we all get to an enlighten state. We will see a the world in a different way and it will be a new world for all humans.

Eckhart Tolle Biography

Spiritual teacher and author Eckhart Tolle was born in Germany and educated at the Universities of London and Cambridge. At the age of twenty-nine a profound inner transformation radically changed the course of his life. The next few years were devoted to understanding, integrating, and deepening that transformation, which marked the beginning of an intense inward journey. Later, he began to work in London with individuals and small groups as a counselor and spiritual teacher. Since 1995 he has lived in Vancouver, Canada.

Eckhart Tolle is the author of the New York Times bestsellers The Power of Now (translated into 33 languages) and A New Earth, which are widely regarded as two of the most influential spiritual books of our time. In 2008, A New Earth became the first spiritual book to be selected for Oprah's Book Club as well as the subject of a ten-week online workshop co-taught by Eckhart and Oprah.

Eckhart's profound yet simple teachings have helped countless people throughout the world find inner peace and greater fulfillment in their lives. At the core of the teachings lies the transformation of consciousness, a spiritual awakening that he sees as the next step in human evolution. An essential aspect of this awakening consists in transcending our ego-based state of consciousness. This is a prerequisite not only for personal happiness but also for the ending of violent conflict endemic on our planet.

Editorial Reviews of "The Power of Now"

Amazon.com Review
Ekhart Tolle's message is simple: living in the now is the truest path to happiness and enlightenment. And while this message may not seem stunningly original or fresh, Tolle's clear writing, supportive voice, and enthusiasm make this an excellent manual for anyone who's ever wondered what exactly "living in the now" means. Foremost, Tolle is a world-class teacher, able to explain complicated concepts in concrete language. More importantly, within a chapter of reading this book, readers are already holding the world in a different container--more conscious of how thoughts and emotions get in the way of their ability to live in genuine peace and happiness.
Tolle packs a lot of information and inspirational ideas into The Power of Now. (Topics include the source of Chi, enlightened relationships, creative use of the mind, impermanence, and the cycle of life.) Thankfully, he's added markers that symbolize "break time." This is when readers should close the book and mull over what they just read. As a result, The Power of Now reads like the highly acclaimed A Course in Miracles--a spiritual guidebook that has the potential to inspire just as many study groups and change just as many lives for the better. --Gail Hudson

Quote on Life

"life can be thankless at times, keep the faith and the power within your friends"

The Reading of my soul in the palm of your hand

The Reading of my soul in the palm of your hand

As you gazed upon my hand you some how peered deep in side my sole.
How can this be?
I don’t understand what makes these connections in us.
How can this be?
You read away as if the words of my life are printed on my hand.
How can this be?
The universe has so much to offer and we understand as in a beach of many miles only one grain of sand.
How can this be?

Our lives adventure like a ship on the seas

Our lives adventure like a ship on the seas

Like a great sailing ship on the open seas our lives travel along what seems endlessly is really not that very long. During this adventure there are essential tools that we will need to complete the journey. To start the journey we must have a map to help us travel to our destination. For if we don’t have a map we have no direction to go, we flounder and roam and no not where we want to go. So is the same in life, with out goals we have no map to guide us on our journey and we drift aimlessly along. Besides the map we need a compass as we need morals in life to help guide us and keep us on our true course, for with out the compass we have no direction and we will never make our final destination. As a sailing ship some time sail with gods speed, some time our life move along quickly with the the wind at our backs. Other times our lives seems to stand still waiting for the breeze to move us along. As we sail the sea we gain the experience of the great waters, it is the same in our lives, we learn what we can handle and what to avoid as we defeat adversity of rough seas to makes us a better sailor. So it is the same in life as adversity can makes use a stronger person and is just an opportunity to know are possibilities. As we journey along we can only hope to find that port in life that is a safe harbor in the time of rough seas. We now see the shore of our final destiny as the journey is nearing the end, we should take a moment to reflect on all the time we have spent on the open sea. For on the journey of life we have filled our treasure chest with many riches of friends that we have met and memories of places that we have been.

Life is a long education:

Life is a long education:

When I was young I knew it all and I didn’t need any more education.
But as life brought me new lesson, life taught me I did need to know more.
Yet after learning more, I now know how little I knew then.
It now scares me to know how little I knew then.
It also now scares me to know how little I know of what the universe
still has to offer me in challenges and knowledge.

To really feel life and enjoy it:

To really feel life and enjoy it:

In order to really feel life we must let go of our fears.
For if we don’t take some chances we will end up living a guarded life.
With out taking a chance, we may miss an opportunity to feel life at an extreme.
Life can be far to short to let our dreams, hopes, and desires pass us bye.
So on this day stop, take a second, smell a rose for its beauty.
Take a chance on life to see where fate will take you.
Stop a moment to really feel life.
