Random Acts of Kindness
"You are here to serve others, to be a light for them, to participate in their lessons and to help heal humanity. You are also here to serve yourself, to heal your karma, to enable your soul's growth and reconnect to the Source. Your challenge is to find a balance between serving others and yourself so that you can accomplish the tasks that you established for yourself in this lifetime and even go beyond that. How you view your role in serving others is an important part of this process."
Analogy of grapes vines and life
I read this on facebook and it made me think about how life and nature can show us a thing or two. Krista Roth said this in her post, I just read where grape growers realized (a long time ago) that grapes had the most "character and taste" when made into wine if they were
placed under stress. It couldn't be too much but it was necessary for the vine to struggle in order to get the greatest bouquet, flavor and overall appeal when made into wine. Funny how that applies to humans too...the best ones are those who have struggled a lot but yet still seem to have the most character, grace and overall appeal. "When life gives you sour grapes...make extravagant wine!!!"
Thanks for sharing this with us Krista Roth. The older I get, I have learn from the struggles of my life. This quote made me realize it even further.

Dalai Lama - Compassion towards my enemy
"The compassion we feel normally is biased and mixed with attachment. Genuine compassion flows towards all living beings, particularly your enemies. If I try to develop compassion towards my enemy, it may not benefit him directly, he may not even be aware of it. But it will immediately benefit me by calming my mind. On the other hand, if I dwell on how awful everything is, I immediately lose my peace of mind." ~ Dalai Lama

60 Life Lessons That Everyone Should Know About
1.Life is like a party. You invite a lot of people; some go, some join you, some laugh with you, some didn’t come. But in the end, after the fun, there would be a few who would clean up the mess with you. And most of the time, those were the uninvited ones.
2.Life is like an ocean. It can be calm and still or rough and rigid. But in the end it’s always beautiful.
3.Fall in love when you’re ready, not when you’re lonely.
4.The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise, we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.
5.The quickest way to find love is to give love.
6.Beauty gets the attention but personality gets the heart.
7.When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everybody will respect you.
8.When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everybody will respect you.
9.If you want to live a happy life, tie yourself to your goals, not to people or things.
10.Ignore all hatred and criticism. Live for what you create, and die protecting it.
11.Cherish your youth. You will never be any younger than you are at this very moment.
12.Be impeccable with your word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using your word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.
13.When humour is being used as a weapon, look closer – it’s most likely being used as a shield.
14.It is a little step and a lot of courage that marks the difference between an opportunity and a great experience.
15.Most of our everyday problems in life arise for one of two reasons: 1) We act without thinking. 2) We keep thinking without acting.
16.If you love someone, tell them. Forget about the rules or the fear of looking ridiculous. What is really ridiculous is passing up on an opportunity to tell someone that your heart is invested in them.
17.It’s not what you achieve in life that defines you; it’s what you overcome to achieve it.
18.Don’t choose the one who is beautiful to the world, choose the one who makes your world beautiful.
19.“An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind ” , so give without expecting to receive in return, and always go about things with only good intentions.
20.Letting go is not forgetting, it’s remembering without fear.
21.Don’t let your ears witness what your eyes didn’t see, or let your mouth speak what your heart doesn’t feel.
22.Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresea, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.
23.Part of being wise is knowing what to overlook.
24.Don’t criticize anybody until you take a look in the mirror and realize all the imperfections you have.
25.Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, “I will try again tomorrow.”
26.A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.
27.The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
28.Happiness is enjoying the small things in life all while chasing after the big ones.
29.When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile. You’ll see why.
30.Never waste a moment, it may be the last with someone you love.
31.The only people you need in your life are the ones that need you in theirs.
32.You have to climb a mountain before you can enjoy the view.

36.Love the world, love people, love life, but most importantly, love yourself. Love who you are and what you stand for.
37.Give yourself time to be upset, it will help you heal.
38.Most of the great times you will remember are the ones when you stepped outside of your comfort zone and tried something new. Those will be the memories that you tell your grandchildren with a smile, someday.

46.Rejection doesn’t hurt, expectation does. Lying doesn’t destroy, denial does. Forgetfulness doesn’t heal, forgiveness does.
47.Sometimes saying yes, when you otherwise would not, can turn out beautifully.

Quote by ~ Bob Marley
"Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life."

Quote ~ Sharon Salzberg
"It doesn't matter how long we may have been stuck in a sense of our limitations. If we go into a darkened room and turn on the light, it doesn't matter if the room has been dark for a day, a week, or ten thousand years -- we turn on the light and it is illuminated. Once we control our capacity for love and happiness, the light has been turned on."

Eckhart Tolle writes about the ego in his book A New Earth.
Eckhart Tolle says, "The extent of the ego's inability to recognize itself and see what it is doing is staggering and unbelievable. [...] To become free of the ego is not really a big job but a very small one. All you need to do is be aware of your thoughts and emotions – as they happen. This is not really a 'doing' but an alert 'seeing'. In that sense, it is true that there is nothing you can do to become free of the ego. When that shift happens, which is the shift from thinking to awareness, an intelligence far greater than the ego's cleverness begins to operate in your life. Emotions and even thoughts become depersonalized through awareness. Their impersonal nature is recognized. There is no longer a self in them. They are just human emotions, human thoughts. Your entire personal history, which is ultimately no more than a story, a bundle of thoughts and emotions, becomes of secondary importance and no longer occupies the forefront of your consciousness. It no longer forms the basis for your sense of identity. You are the light of Presence, the awareness that is prior to and deeper than any thoughts and emotions."
Tolle, A New Earth, pp.117–118.

African Proverb about finding peace within yourself
"When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you."
~African Proverb
As I find the inner peace and my center this saying is all to true. I find greater strength then I have ever had. No one can tare me down if I don't let them. As you grow in this peaceful place the others will find your peacefulness hard to take. This is when even further challenges await you.

Choice of life - the great circle, find enlightenment today
We should not live in the past and we should let the active mind rest. If we change this moment in time and keep changing them, feel the moment look at your inner center. You will find the enlightenment and to world will become a better place.
Quote - Life choices when in the NOW
"Right now your life is being formed by the choices you make, the people you talk to, the beliefs you have, the things you do, and how much you care. Do good and follow your heart. If you make a mistake it won't make you or break you. It's what you learn from the mistakes that matter."

The real difference from people that are successful and people that are not is how they react and make changes to there lives when things don't work out as they want them to.

Dalai Lama quote
"Giving up attachment to the world does not mean that you set yourself apart from it. Generating a desire for others to be happy increases your humanity. As you become less attached to the world, you become more humane. As the very purpose of spiritual practice is to help others, you must remain in society."
--Dalai Lama
I think this says a lot. we need to make sure that we become more humane in how we treat others. If we all really work at this and we all get to an enlighten state. We will see a the world in a different way and it will be a new world for all humans.

Eckhart Tolle Biography
Spiritual teacher and author Eckhart Tolle was born in Germany and educated at the Universities of London and Cambridge. At the age of twenty-nine a profound inner transformation radically changed the course of his life. The next few years were devoted to understanding, integrating, and deepening that transformation, which marked the beginning of an intense inward journey. Later, he began to work in London with individuals and small groups as a counselor and spiritual teacher. Since 1995 he has lived in Vancouver, Canada.
Eckhart Tolle is the author of the New York Times bestsellers The Power of Now (translated into 33 languages) and A New Earth, which are widely regarded as two of the most influential spiritual books of our time. In 2008, A New Earth became the first spiritual book to be selected for Oprah's Book Club as well as the subject of a ten-week online workshop co-taught by Eckhart and Oprah.
Eckhart's profound yet simple teachings have helped countless people throughout the world find inner peace and greater fulfillment in their lives. At the core of the teachings lies the transformation of consciousness, a spiritual awakening that he sees as the next step in human evolution. An essential aspect of this awakening consists in transcending our ego-based state of consciousness. This is a prerequisite not only for personal happiness but also for the ending of violent conflict endemic on our planet.

Editorial Reviews of "The Power of Now"
Amazon.com Review
Ekhart Tolle's message is simple: living in the now is the truest path to happiness and enlightenment. And while this message may not seem stunningly original or fresh, Tolle's clear writing, supportive voice, and enthusiasm make this an excellent manual for anyone who's ever wondered what exactly "living in the now" means. Foremost, Tolle is a world-class teacher, able to explain complicated concepts in concrete language. More importantly, within a chapter of reading this book, readers are already holding the world in a different container--more conscious of how thoughts and emotions get in the way of their ability to live in genuine peace and happiness.
Tolle packs a lot of information and inspirational ideas into The Power of Now. (Topics include the source of Chi, enlightened relationships, creative use of the mind, impermanence, and the cycle of life.) Thankfully, he's added markers that symbolize "break time." This is when readers should close the book and mull over what they just read. As a result, The Power of Now reads like the highly acclaimed A Course in Miracles--a spiritual guidebook that has the potential to inspire just as many study groups and change just as many lives for the better. --Gail Hudson

Quote on Life
10/3/2009 (Fred Sharpsteen)
"life can be thankless at times, keep the faith and the power within your friends"
"life can be thankless at times, keep the faith and the power within your friends"
The Reading of my soul in the palm of your hand
The Reading of my soul in the palm of your hand
As you gazed upon my hand you some how peered deep in side my sole.
How can this be?
I don’t understand what makes these connections in us.
How can this be?
You read away as if the words of my life are printed on my hand.
How can this be?
The universe has so much to offer and we understand as in a beach of many miles only one grain of sand.
How can this be?

Our lives adventure like a ship on the seas
Our lives adventure like a ship on the seas
Like a great sailing ship on the open seas our lives travel along what seems endlessly is really not that very long. During this adventure there are essential tools that we will need to complete the journey. To start the journey we must have a map to help us travel to our destination. For if we don’t have a map we have no direction to go, we flounder and roam and no not where we want to go. So is the same in life, with out goals we have no map to guide us on our journey and we drift aimlessly along. Besides the map we need a compass as we need morals in life to help guide us and keep us on our true course, for with out the compass we have no direction and we will never make our final destination. As a sailing ship some time sail with gods speed, some time our life move along quickly with the the wind at our backs. Other times our lives seems to stand still waiting for the breeze to move us along. As we sail the sea we gain the experience of the great waters, it is the same in our lives, we learn what we can handle and what to avoid as we defeat adversity of rough seas to makes us a better sailor. So it is the same in life as adversity can makes use a stronger person and is just an opportunity to know are possibilities. As we journey along we can only hope to find that port in life that is a safe harbor in the time of rough seas. We now see the shore of our final destiny as the journey is nearing the end, we should take a moment to reflect on all the time we have spent on the open sea. For on the journey of life we have filled our treasure chest with many riches of friends that we have met and memories of places that we have been.

Life is a long education:
Life is a long education:
When I was young I knew it all and I didn’t need any more education.
But as life brought me new lesson, life taught me I did need to know more.
Yet after learning more, I now know how little I knew then.
It now scares me to know how little I knew then.
It also now scares me to know how little I know of what the universe
still has to offer me in challenges and knowledge.

To really feel life and enjoy it:
To really feel life and enjoy it:
In order to really feel life we must let go of our fears.
For if we don’t take some chances we will end up living a guarded life.
With out taking a chance, we may miss an opportunity to feel life at an extreme.
Life can be far to short to let our dreams, hopes, and desires pass us bye.
So on this day stop, take a second, smell a rose for its beauty.
Take a chance on life to see where fate will take you.
Stop a moment to really feel life.
